Superman - The 'Green' Movie...?

Press clipping from the UK Sun newspaper - Reeve is listed as being 37 so that would make it around 1990. Good evidence that the fifth movie starring Reeve was still being touted though I can find no further mention of a 'Green' theme in any script from that era. Superman Homepage has an excellent interview with DC/ SuperBoy writer Cary Bates about what may well have been the next sequel - Superman Reborn. Find the article (and a link to an excellent PDF copy of the script!!) here

Why I Believe In...

Culled from an oversize newspaper article in the UK Sun newspaper entitled 'Why I Believe in Superman' circa 1988, after the release of Superman IV. It seems Reeve's only stipulation for returning to the role was a return to quality. As the possibility of a fifth chapter was closer to fruition than most believe, I intend to post as much evidence from the aborted fifth movie that I can and need your help!! Please get in touch if you have anything Superman V related...!

The British Are Coming...

More full-page ads courtesy of the Salkinds from Daily Variety dedicated to the BFI and UK Box Office. The figure seems laughable now but in 1978 was probably the equivalent of a Billion pounds today...

A Guy Hamilton Film...?

The first from a series of oversize ads from Daily Variety starting with the initial artwork presented by the Salkinds when Guy Hamilton (Goldfinger) was in place as Director. Its interesting to see the film as we know it evolve from these announcements. As they are an important documentation of the film's genesis I have removed the yellowing with age in an effort to present them as they were originally intended. From my collection....

Original Poster Fan Art...

An amazingly atmospheric creation by artist Owain Wilson from his flickr album - see it and more classic movies given the Avante Garde treatment here;

In his own words;
For my Superman design, I figured simple, elegant and classy was the way to go, much like the original 1978 poster and the film itself.
I looked for a profile shot of Marlon Brando and found this painting by an artist whose name I couldn't make out (Kris Meadows) It was part of a bigger composition so I took this part out and got to work.
The thing I'm most proud of in this poster is Superman's flight streak. I can't believe I figured out how to do it!
